Revolutionary Baby is a collection of short stories about ordinary people caught in the revolutions of the twentieth century. Everything is changing. Choices must be made. Power relations, gender identities and social expectations lead to uncertainty and confusion. Sometimes there is self-sabotage, isolation and loneliness. But still there’s hope and sometimes love. The stories and characters are entirely fictional, but reflect my own experiences as a student, a mother, an academic, a traveller, an onlooker and participant in the transformations of recent decades. They use themes and approaches which challenge traditional depictions of romantic, sexual and family relationships and might be uncomfortabe for some readers.
